I recently went on a trip to Columbus, Ohio to spend a few days exploring the area. Columbus is a wonderful, bustling town that I have grown to love with each visit.
Red Giraffe Designs
I wanted to buy out the whole place. Cute, minimalist jewelry covered this store and needless to say, it fell right into my heart. There was a man creating a custom piece for his girlfriend when I walked in, and found that most of the jewelry was within a reasonable price range. The only problem was that I would’ve easily spent a few hundred in the store with all of the adorable, hand-crafted rings, bracelets and necklaces they had in stock.
This store is legendary for Ohioans, and I don’t blame them. Mastering the fitted cotton tees with screen printing that fits to Ohio’s sports-oriented culture, this place is a must-visit. While I bought my own take to wear, I didn’t hesitate to wear this cozy sweater while running errands on a breezy day!
North Market
A foodie’s paradise, I kept saying over and over in my head. I spent way too much time here. Between all of the food vendors, the little shop set ups, etc., you can easily spend a lunch hour (or two) just wandering around. The cutest thing I saw was probably the miniature cast iron pan. Like, what do you need this for?! I don’t care. I want it. I also managed to pick up the perfect bottle of Grüner Veltliner to enjoy later. Here are some of the restaurants I checked out while I was there:
Lan Viet
I have never tried Pho before. To be honest, I had a weird fear about trying Pho. I have a seafood allergy and just wasn’t sure if a place would cater to that allergy or not, but lucky for me, Lan Viet was incredibly careful about my allergy. They stopped automatically adding fish sauce to the soup since so many folks have allergies, so I was in luck! I ordered the chicken Pho and it came in this bowl that was about the size of my head. It was accompanied by cilantro, sprouts, sriracha and chopsticks. I literally ate like 80% of the bowl. I’m so glad I finally tried it and it’s definitely gone on my list of favorite foods.
Nida’s Thai
Do you ever get a craving so bad, you find yourself laying in bed at night thinking about it? Fantasizing, daydreaming? That was me with Panang Curry lately, and I had to get my fix. I knew North Market had a Thai place, so I thought I’d give it a go. They didn’t have my beloved Panang, but they had this amazing green curry that curved my cravings.
Taste of Belgium
Fries. My love, my crisp desire. My potato treat. I don’t care what science says about you slowing killing all of us, I still love you. The Belgian Frites at Taste of Belgium were rich, crispy, potatoey sticks of amazingness. They’re ridiculously indulgent, and while I had to get them, I definitely would share them next time – I know…famous last words.
I had to take a sneak at your last visit to the 614. I love seeing that you had a great time!! I look forward to seeing more posts 🙂
Thank you! I always have a great time in Columbus. Looking forward to visiting again soon, and I’ll be sure to have more posts up soon.
